(Hong Kong, 19 January 2023) – Tam Jai International Co. Limited (“TJI” or the “Company”, and together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”; HKEX stock code: 2217), a leading and renowned mixian-specialised fast-casual restaurant chain, is pleased to share that its first “Sustainability Week” has concluded with a bang. Between 9 and 13 January 2023, the Group launched the “TamJai Jeh Jeh: TamJai Che Che” (Toy Cars) and “Drawings of TamJai-ese” charity projects, along with a series of activities to enhance stakeholders’ understanding of environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) and the Group’s ESG strategy with the three core pillars of “Nourishing Communities”, “Uplifting People” and “Preserving Nature”.
“TamJai Jeh Jeh: TamJai Che Che” (Toy Cars) and “Drawings of TamJai-ese”, as the key events of the “Sustainability Week”, saw the introduction of two mini-aluminum alloy model cars – the “TamJai Che Che”, as inspired by “TamJai Jeh Jeh” (TamJai waitresses), and a calendar featuring 12 “Drawings of TamJai-ese” pictures for charity sale. The “Drawings of TamJai-ese” pictures were created by 12 local illustrators, and captured the essence of the “TamJai accent”. On top of raising fund for the HER Fund and Heep Hong Society, the two charitable projects carried the hope of the Group to put into practice its advocacy for creativity through art, and also represented its support to community care, and children and youth development work.
During the “Sustainability Week”, the Group also hosted a series of employee activities, including visit to Hong Kong’s first organic resource recycling centre O·PARK1, beeswax wrap workshop and recycling competition, to let participants understand how food waste is turned into energy and raise their awareness of environmental protection. By taking part in the ESG webinar and prize quiz held, employees learnt more about ESG and the Group’s ESG strategy. With “Uplifting People” as one of its core pillar, the Group always has the well-being of its employees at heart. Hence, activities like “Laughter Yoga” and “Yoga stretching class” were organised to foster employees’ physical and mental health. In addition, the employees participated in the ” A Day with Food Angel” volunteer activity organized by Food Angel, contributing to food rescue and underprivileged communities in need of food assistance. The Group also offered mixian to the needy via the TamJai SamGor “Mixian for the Good” event as a gesture of giving back to and caring for the community, putting its “Nourishing Communities” and “Preserving Nature” into practice. A special seed paper printed with the message of “This is a time that requires action!” was given to all participants not only to thank them for participating in the activities but also to encourage them to live green.
During the “Sustainability Week”, TamJai and SamGor VIP members could purchase selected vegetarian foods at discounted prices using the mobile APPs, representing the Group’s support for low-carbon green dining.
Mr. Daren Lau, Chairman, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tam Jai International, said, “The Group’s ESG strategy is set with 3 core pillars of ‘Nourishing Communities’, ‘Uplifting People’ and ‘Preserving Nature’. We are very happy to have put them into practice and promoted them via the charitable projects and activities of Sustainability Week. We deeply understand the importance of sustainable development and will continue to follow our set ESG strategic framework and integrate ESG into our daily business operations so as to create greater value for society.”
